The best free Calendly alternative depends on what Calendly's free plan is missing for you. Calendly Free gives you one event type, one connected calendar and a booking page, with no reminders, no payments and Calendly branding you can't remove. Cal.com's free plan covers one user with unlimited links and calendars plus Stripe and PayPal payments. Zoho Bookings has a free plan for one user with email notifications and reminders, and runs a European data center. Zeeg, a German provider, gives you two booking pages for free and says it stores bookings on Telekom servers in Germany. Microsoft Bookings costs nothing extra if you already have Microsoft 365 Business. All of this is as of November 2026, from the vendors' own pages. If your visitors are in the EU, the data location and the data processing agreement matter as much as the feature list.

I use Calendly myself for the strategy session on my contact page, and I show further down how it is embedded. How to set up a booking page, buffers and reminders in general is in Scheduling Meetings With AI: What Works Now. Everything on contacts, freebies and funnels is collected on Lead Magnets, Freebies and Funnels.

What Calendly's free plan covers, and what it costs to upgrade

Calendly calls the free plan "Always free". According to the comparison table on its pricing page, it includes one event type for one-on-one meetings, unlimited meetings, one connected calendar, a customizable booking link, meeting polls and one-off links, and webhooks. From Standard upward you get unlimited event types including group events, up to six calendars, automated reminders, a cancellation policy, payments through Stripe and PayPal, removal of Calendly branding, HubSpot, Mailchimp and Zapier, Google Analytics and Meta Pixel, and custom confirmation pages with redirects. What belongs on such a page is in Thank You Page Examples and What to Include.

Calendly plan Billed monthly Billed yearly
Free $0 $0
Standard $12 per seat/month $10 per seat/month
Teams $20 per seat/month $16 per seat/month
Enterprise from $15,000 a year, from 50 seats

Seats are only needed by people who connect calendars and host meetings; invitees don't need one. The "Plus" versions of Standard and Teams add the Notetaker and the Callie assistant for $24 and $32 a seat billed monthly. The page lists no sales tax, so check the total at checkout.

Google Calendar appointment schedules built into Google Calendar some features need an eligible Google Workspace or Google One subscription Google account; see the scheduling article linked above

Which one fits comes down to the first thing you miss on Calendly Free. If it is a second event type or payments, Cal.com Free covers both for one person. If it is EU data storage, Zoho Bookings and Zeeg are the closer fit. If your team already pays for Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, look at what you already have before adding a tool.

Self-hosting: Cal.diy instead of Cal.com

Cal.com's open-source edition is now called Cal.diy. It is MIT-licensed and on GitHub, and you run it on your own server. The maintainers are clear about where it belongs: it is "strictly recommended for personal, non-production use", teams and workflows have been removed, and for commercial scheduling they point to hosted Cal.com. For a small business booking page, self-hosting is a project of its own, not a shortcut to a free plan.

Calendly and GDPR: what changes for EU visitors

This isn't legal advice, just the operator's perspective from running Calendly on my own site.

Calendly's Data Processing Addendum is "incorporated into the Customer Terms" between you as controller and Calendly LLC as processor, so you don't sign a separate one. It states that Calendly is located in the United States and that transfers from the EU are governed by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, under which Calendly is self-certified; if that framework falls away, the Standard Contractual Clauses apply. The European Commission still lists the US, for companies in the Data Privacy Framework, among countries with adequate protection, based on its decision of 10 July 2023. Calendly's sub-processor list, updated August 20, 2026, names US data centers for its infrastructure providers such as Amazon Web Services and Google.

That gives you four tasks with Calendly or any alternative: name the tool in your privacy policy, file the data processing agreement with a date, subscribe to sub-processor change notices where offered, and keep the booking form to what you actually need, because everything a guest types in is stored by the provider.

Embedding a booking calendar: cookies and consent

Calendly can be embedded on every plan: inline, as a pop-up widget or as a pop-up link. The embed settings include "Remove the cookie banner", which hides Calendly's own notice but doesn't change what loads. In Germany, Section 25 TDDDG only allows storing or reading information on a visitor's device with consent, unless it is strictly necessary for a service the user explicitly asked for.

On my contact page the calendar only loads after you click "Load calendar"; before that, nothing is sent to Calendly. The text above the button says Calendly is a US service, that from the click on your browser transmits your IP address among other things, and that Calendly sets its own cookies, including for analytics. Your consent applies to that page view only. You can also open Calendly in a new tab or write to me through the form instead. My privacy policy covers this in section 6.3, in German. How to build a page that has exactly one goal and how to count booked calls is in Create a Landing Page: Guide and Tools.

How bookings run on my site

On my contact page you book 20 minutes with me, on video via Microsoft Teams or Zoom, with four short questions when you book and slots up to 14 days ahead. My inbox is sorted by Frieda, my AI employee for the office: four piles plus a fifth for cases that need my judgment. She also delivers meeting briefings ahead of calendar entries, and she never sends anything on her own; every reply stays a draft until I approve it. Where the requests come from in the first place is the bigger question, covered in Finding New Clients as a Freelancer. If you'd rather have calls answered and booked by phone, see AI Receptionist: Providers, Pricing, Law; Zeeg sells one too, from €49 a month billed yearly.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free alternative to Calendly?

Yes. Cal.com, Zoho Bookings and Zeeg all have permanent free plans for one person, each with different limits. Microsoft Bookings and Google Calendar appointment schedules cost nothing extra if you already have the right subscription.

What does Calendly's free plan include?

One event type for one-on-one meetings, one connected calendar, unlimited meetings and a customizable booking page. Reminders, more event types, payments and removing Calendly branding start at Standard, $12 a seat billed monthly or $10 billed yearly.

Is Calendly GDPR compliant?

That depends on how you use it. Calendly includes a data processing addendum in its customer terms, says it is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and lists US data centers. Your part is the privacy policy, a lean booking form and consent when you embed it.

Which Calendly alternative keeps data in the EU?

Of the tools above, Zoho Bookings runs a European data center, and Zeeg says it stores bookings on Telekom servers in Germany. Check each provider's data processing agreement and sub-processor list before you switch. Cal.com offers EU hosting from its Organizations plan.

Where to go from here

Write down the meeting types you actually offer and whether reminders or payment belong to them. One free event type without payment is what Calendly Free covers; beyond that, compare Calendly Standard with the free plans above. If you want to see a booking flow from the outside, book a strategy session: 20 minutes on the one workflow in your business that depends on you the most. Frieda is a ready-made template in the Premium tier of my community AI Employee Framework for $149 a month; in Standard, for $5 a month, you learn to build her yourself (as of October 29, 2026, per her page). How a visit becomes a contact who books later is in How to Create a Lead Magnet (8 Real Examples). Ideas for the freebie itself are in Lead Magnet Ideas and How to Test Them. How a quiz like the bottleneck check is built is in Quiz Funnels: Building One with AI. And what to send contacts who aren't ready to book is in Lead Nurturing Emails: Examples by Stage.
